From regular talks and our annual Gerald Lacey Lecture, to technical visits in the UK and overseas, the Irrigation and Water Forum provides a platform for innovation and knowledge sharing between world class practitioners, researchers, academics and students across the entire spectrum of sustainable water management and rural development. All our technical meetings are hosted at the Institution of Civil Engineers in London, in grand surroundings overlooked by the portraits of Brunel, Stephenson and Telford.
Part of IWF’s technical programme is a visit to one of the UK’s notable irrigation and drainage centres, linking to nearby academic institutions. In the past, week-end visits have focused on the Fens, Somerset Levels, Cornwall. Forays abroad have included the Ooster Schelde Estuary in Holland, the Ashkelon desalination plant in Israel, and the Foggia region of Southern Italy.
Our members also run an occasional 2-day introductory training course on irrigation aimed at young professionals.
Over these pages, you can find details and, where available, recordings of selected events hosted by the IWF.
